Nature’s Indulgence

First of #February is a Friday. Naturally then, today is the day I experiment with Le Chocolat de Fred. Now, I hate to be disloyal to Butler’s, but my business does business with their business and the cozy, #ganache filled atmosphere is a magnet for my senses.

The shop has room for maybe ten bodies to fit, and is run by a French woman and Irish man this Friday afternoon. I resisted the urge to order a chocolate covered waffle - only this time! Instead, I opted for a simple, no-strings attached dark hot chocolate. The elixir came out piping hot, but I dove in like Augustus Gloop did in Willy Wonka’s waterfall. After scorching my tongue (totally worth it) I took my time savoring the dark magic. Everyone in the chocolate shop was relaxed too - the woman even said to me “Hold down the fort” while she took a quick breather outside. A dream come true! I fantasized digging my hands into the jars of fudge and chocolate drops, and sticking my face under the ice cream maker. None of this happened since a young couple strolled in and sat beside me. I smiled at the girl with my #chocolate moustache, “it’s all good here!”

“Where are you from?” She smiled back. I learned she was from #Mexico and completely in the wrong climate. Her boyfriend ordered them a chocolate strawberry #crepe to warm up the day.

Before I could see whether they shared the crepe equally, I slipped out the door. I entered the deceptively sunny Dun Laoghaire street and made my way to the windy pier, fueled by nature’s finest indulgence. The sun and wind fought with each other, but their angst propelled the #sea gulls on a frothy joy ride. Nature indulges too.
