A Weekend in January

Writer: CaitlynSarahDavisCaitlynSarahDavis

My genie in a bottle is dancing cloud of lavender and orange mist. He hums as he breathes and fills the room with a citrus presence. Diffusers are great at granting you the one wish of tranquillity on a Sunday.

This weekend was low key and entailed travelling an hour and a half to have lunch at a delicious bistro - Blend & Batch. The eatery was bustling at 12:45 with waiters running to tables with plates of pancakes and cups of coffee. We were seated right away and ordered within minutes. Although all the options were tempting, we were decisive in ordering the two specials. I altered the salad to replace the avocado with chicken, which I thought paired scrumptiously with the rice, hummus, pesto and pickled cabbage. After the main event, Garreth and I shared a dense milk chocolate brownie to go between sips of a red tropical tea. Satisfied with the feeding, we moved back South to Carlingford. Here, we passed through a patchwork of green fields and ribbon of water. The town itself is very colorful - boasting a flowery purple tea room and bright yellow, blue, green and red doors. I can't imagine how popular the coastal town must be in the summer. Even a cold January afternoon drew a crowd to the local castle!

We didn't stay long because the winter sun was pushing away - however, we returned home just in time to catch a cotton candy sunset over the Dublin mountains.
